Service is also fast, and the owners are nearly always there if you have any suggestions or concerns. Cozumel Mexican Grill For amazing tacos, great, friendly staff, and huge portions, you can't do better than Cozumel's. Don't miss their happy hour from 2pm to 6pm every weeknight, including Friday, and if you haven't been there for lunch, give their specials a try. The nachos here are the best we've ever had. The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly, so bring the kids or your friends: you'll always have a great time. Try the carnitas, which comes with roasted onion and fresh avocado, and the Chile Colorado is another dish you have to try. El Rancho Grande The final spot on our list is in Scott Depot, but it's worth the short 15-minute drive if you're looking for something different. This is a great place when you need a night out with your friends or a date-night destination. The drinks here are good but strong: be sure to drink responsibly! The micheladas are a particular favorite of ours. Standout choices include the burritos and fajitas, the Chile relleno, and their cheese dip. You won't be able to stop putting their homemade salsa on everything, and the carnitas are worth a try, too. Nitro, WV is located right on the Kanawha River, and there are tons of opportunities to get outside and explore a variety of recreational activities in the area. Whether it's fishing, hiking, swimming, or biking, there are outdoor activities for everybody here. more Ridenour Lake Located right in the heart of Nitro, this calm and clean lake offers a great way to spend time outside. Families love it because of the well-maintained walking paths and plenty of flora and fauna for the little ones to discover. The gazebo is a popular place for weddings, and the fenced-in dog park sees a lot of action as well. The City of Nitro will also sponsor events at the park throughout the year. Hurricane City Park In nearby Hurricane, this city park is beloved for its many available activities. There is a popular, well-maintained hiking trail that offers multiple distances for hikers and biking enthusiasts alike. With several playgrounds, basketball courts, baseball fields, and a splash park to explore, Hurricane City Park is enjoyed by many families with children. Take in a picnic in one of the sheltered areas, and enjoy the day out! Wine Cellar Park In Dunbar, this park features a 7-acre lake and ruins of a pre-war vinery. Originally built in the late 1800s, the cellars are at the base of a wooded hill. Now, it's a day-use area with picnic shelters, a playground, and wheelchair-accessible paths between the cellars and Laura Anderson Lake. Fishing enthusiasts enjoy this lake which is stocked seasonally with catfish, bass, and trout. There's also a disc golf course to explore if fishing isn't your thing. Fox Trot Fishing Lake Fishing tournaments on the weekend draw fishing enthusiasts to Fox Trot. Children under the age of 10 fish for free, but there is a fee of $10 per person for 12 hours, which includes tags for two poles. Do note that this lake is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. This is a great way to test your fishing prowess among the locals. Barnette Conservation Preserve This 30-acre piece of land is located near St. Albans. The land was originally donated by the family of Curtis Hank Banette to protect the site around the Lower Falls area of the Coal River. With two walking trails, kayak rentals on the river, and a variety of boat launches (the Robert C. Byrd boat launch is especially popular) on the three water trails, there is plenty to discover at this nature preserve. Meadow Dream Farm This riding facility offers horse riding lessons, camps, and training. If you love animals, Meadow Dream Farm offers a great way to interact with horses in a gorgeous rustic setting. Locals rave about the friendly staff and owners. They started Meadow Dream Farm in 2001, specializing in Saddlebred horses both for riding lessons and for purchase.
