Where_to_Go_for_the_Best_Barbecue_Near_Nitro

Founded as a munitions plant to supply gunpowder to the war effort, Nitro, West Virginia was named after the term Nitro-Cellulose, the chemical component in gunpowder. While it is known for being a living memorial to the First World War, you might not know that it is a great place to find delicious barbecue. With that in mind, we’ve made a list of where to go for the best barbecue in and around Nitro, WV. Check it out below.

Ridge View BBQ

The first stop on our list started out in 2007 serving up BBQ from a travel trailer. They traveled to festivals and catering events, quickly making a name for themselves along the way. As a result of their success, they were able to found a brick-and-mortar location in the nearby town of Institute.

They still take the trailer out on weekends so check their website to see their travel schedule. The restaurant serves all of their time-tested recipes including burgers, wings, hot bologna, and of course, their hickory-smoked barbecue. Pay them a visit and see what this family-run business has to offer.

Danny’s BBQ Stand

Founded by Danny Jones, who is both a seasoned restaurateur and the city of Charleston’s longest-serving mayor, Danny’s BBQ Stand is the result of a career dedicated to quality food. Located on Quarrier Street, the store is a living history of the town with walls full of newspaper clippings.

The ribs are definitely the highlight of the menu, but you truly can’t go wrong with anything here. The signature side is the housemade smoked potato salad which is a must-order. Danny has a way of making everyone who visits his restaurant feel at home.

Dem 2 Brothers And A Grill BBQ

Former professional football player and Charleston native Adrian “Bay” Wright began selling his barbecue on the side of the road in Charleston. From those beginnings, he now has two restaurants, two food trucks, and is a staple of the community.

Their Southern sides are incredible, especially the collard greens and the sweet potato casserole. Locals rave about the ribs and the brisket. Their house barbecue sauce also comes in different levels of spice which is a nice touch for those who like a little or a lot of heat.

Barnyard BBQ

Now with three locations in Teays Valley, Milton, and Cross Lanes, Barnyard BBQ continues to deliver quality barbecue in a relaxed setting. Live music is a frequent and fun thing at all of their locations so check out their website to see the schedule. Not many barbecue restaurants also serve personal pizzas but Barnyard does and of course, there’s a BBQ pizza. They also have a vegetarian platter which is a nice touch for those less interested in eating meat.

The Big Barnyard Sample is a steal under their 2 Can Dine for $25.49 special. The sampler comes with portions of pork, chicken, brisket, a quarter rack of ribs, four homemade sides, and four corn fritters. You can’t beat that.

So there you have it: some of the best places to find barbecue in the Nitro area. We hope you found some food for thought. And while you are in town, stop by Walker Chevrolet for any and all of your Chevy automotive needs.
