Chevy cares for your safety and has created a suite of advanced safety systems to protect you when you’re driving. These features are standard in every Chevy, and additional features may be available depending on your model. As your Chevy dealer, we want to tell you about some of the Chevy safety features you’ll find in your vehicle.
Following Distance Indicator
During driver’s ed, we all learn the three seconds rule. It takes 1 1/2 seconds to recognize a potential problem and 1 1/2 seconds to respond to it. When you’re behind the wheel, it can be difficult to ensure you’re a safe enough distance from another vehicle to respond if necessary. This feature uses radar to determine the distance between your front bumper and the vehicle ahead, then displays the following distance in seconds.
Lane Keep Assist
It can be easy to drift out of your lane lines, particularly if you are tired or driving at night. This system utilizes a forward-watching camera and sensors to identify the lane lines, and the system will actively work to keep your vehicle centered in its lane.
If your wheels cross into another lane without you activating the direction indicator, you’ll receive audio and visual alerts. These alerts give you sufficient time to react and turn back into your lane.
Forward Collision Alert
This system uses a camera and radar to monitor the distance between your Chevy and any vehicle ahead of you. It calculates the distance between the two vehicles and will sound an alert if it detects the distance is closing and an accident is possible. You receive audible and visual alerts so you can brake to prevent impact.
Automatic Emergency Braking
If you can’t respond in time and brake when you receive a collision warning, this feature automatically activates your brakes to bring you to an instant stop.
Front Pedestrian Braking
This system is similar to the emergency braking above, but it’s specifically designed to identify pedestrians. If a pedestrian steps in front of your Chevy, the braking system is automatically activated to prevent an accident or reduce damage from an unavoidable situation.
IntelliBeam
This feature actively switches your headlights from high beam to low beam if it detects another vehicle headed in your direction. Once the other vehicle has passed, the headlights revert to high beams.
